  • Bowmont is a comprehensive interior design project for a developer-built four-storey semi-detached house. Designed for a family of six, we sought to craft an indoor environment that supports everyday health and wellbeing.

  • The indoor environment affects our health and wellbeing in subtle yet profound ways. For Bowmont, we sought to transform the generic interior of a developer-built semi-detached house into a healthy environment tailored to the physical, social and cognitive needs of a family of six.

The heart of the home is located on the second floor, where the living room, dining area and kitchen are arranged as a series of connected spaces. Glass sliding doors allow the family to move freely between them, supporting both gatherings and more private moments. A 3.5-metre-tall glossy stone feature wall anchors the living room and highlights the double-height volume, while a mirrored wall opposite enhances ambient light and brightens what was originally a narrow and relatively dark interior.

Material selection was guided by health-focused principles. Natural materials were prioritised, with low-VOC and low-chemical alternatives specified where necessary. Finishes and paints were chosen for their ease of cleaning, anti-bacterial properties and zero-VOC content. A predominantly white palette reduces visual distraction and promotes calm, while subtle material accents and custom cabinetry displaying family mementos introduce character. The project demonstrates that a healthy indoor environment need not feel antiseptic but can be warm and personal.
